Starting your coaching, consulting, or course creation business in Denmark involves specific registration steps to ensure compliance. This guide explains how to register a business in Denmark for coaches, consultants, and course creators, covering the steps for both sole proprietorships (enkeltmandsvirksomhed) and limited liability companies (ApS).

How to Register Business Denmark as a Sole Proprietorship

A sole proprietorship (enkeltmandsvirksomhed) is a simple and effective way to start your service-based business.

Step 1: Obtain a MitID and CPR Number

  • MitID: MitID is Denmark’s digital identification system required for accessing online business services.

  • CPR Number: A personal identification number for Danish residents.

💡 Pro Tip: Apply for a MitID through the MitID official website and a CPR number via the Danish Citizen Service.

Step 2: Register Online with the Danish Business Authority (Erhvervsstyrelsen)

  • Visit the Danish Business Authority Website

  • Log in using your MitID.

  • Follow the online instructions to register your sole proprietorship, providing your business details.

Step 3: Obtain a Central Business Registration Number (CVR Number)

Upon completing your registration, you’ll automatically receive a Central Business Register (CVR) number, which acts as your business’s unique identifier.

Step 4: Register for VAT (if applicable)

If your annual turnover exceeds DKK 50,000, you are required to register for VAT through SKAT (Danish Tax Agency).

💡 Pro Tip: VAT registration ensures compliance and allows you to deduct VAT on business-related expenses.

💡 Pro Tip: Articles must be notarized by a Danish notary.

Step 2: Determine Shareholders and Share Capital

Establish the number of shareholders and contributions. The minimum share capital required is DKK 40,000.

Step 3: Notarize the Articles of Association

Have the Articles notarized by a certified notary in Denmark to ensure compliance.

Step 4: Open a Capital Account

Set up a business bank account and deposit the required share capital.

Step 5: Register with the Danish Business Authority

  • Visit www.virk.dk to register your company.

  • You’ll receive your Central Business Register (CVR) number upon completion.

Step 6: Register for VAT (if applicable)

If your turnover exceeds DKK 50,000, register for VAT with SKAT (Danish Tax Agency).

Step 7: Obtain a Corporate Tax Number (CVR Number)
