1:36 if you missed the Stop the Overwhelm Series, go back to Episodes 56, 57, 58 and 59, especially the last episode which you can listen at by clicking this link.

2:26 Master Resell Rights has been existing for decades. It’s not new at all.  I can’t help but laugh at business owners saying they invented it or that its totally new. It is not.

2:51 And Master Resell Rights is just a subcategory of Licensing. Now, I know you are hearing legal jargons so let’s define and backtrack a little so you can understand.

If the product you bought has resell rights, you as the buyer are given a right to sell it but your customer does not have any right to resell out any further. So, there is no limit to the resale unlike in Master Resell Rights.

6:44 We will only be talking about Master Resell Rights or what people call MRR where in the buyer and the buyer’s buyer has unlimited opportunity to sell the same product or in this case, course.

10:15 Now from a legal perspective, Master Resell rights presents a web of issues not only for the buyer but for the seller as well.

11:15 So how does it work --the original creator of the course Z and H, sells it to ABC, A sells it to DEF, B sells it to LMN, C sells it to OPQ and so on.

12:06 If you plot this, you will create a pyramid.  With Z H and ABC on top.  Now, the higher you are in the pyramid, the greater the chance you will profit. I am not saying it is a pyramid scheme, but rather, it creates a pyramidical structure when you plot buyers and sellers.

12:20 MRR creates a lot of competition saturates the market fast. And what is the problem with oversaturating the market fast? It means that the lower you are in the pyramid, the harder and more challenging it will be to sell the product.

13:15 The only people who will benefit from this scheme are those on top of the pyramid, the upper 5% probably.  The rest will be selling to an oversaturated market.

17:12 You see, MRR is not a sustainable solution to your problem. Because you end having to market a product that you don’t own. Which means, you will always be at the mercy of the creator. Plus, if you don’t know what you are doing, you are a newbie, or very little experience, you will end up with more legal problems that money in your pocket.

18:17 One question I often get is this: if the creator of this roadmap course and the spinoffs are selling the resale rights, how do profit from it?

For one, they continue to sell the course, which means, they are competing with you.

Second, they earn from Affiliate links.

Third, they don’t allow you to change the content of the course. Which means that from the first video down to the last, all your audience is seeing are the creators of the Roadmap Course or the spinoff. Which means, you actually bought something to advertise them.

20:01 If what you are only after is the course content, go ahead, buy whatever product or course you want to. It’s your money anyway. Before you invest, ask yourself; without the MRR, will this Roadmap course be any different from others in the market or am I better of just going to other experts.

20:37 MRR has a lot of legal pitfalls if you don’t know what you are doing. It is never a sustainable business strategy for anyone, except for the creator and the first buyers. I am not saying that it is a scam. I am not saying that it not legitimate. But it has a LOT of legal pitfalls that you need to be aware of before jumping in.

21:00 You still need to sell. Which means, if you have very small following, or you hate selling in general, then this Roadmap course will not help you either, you will just lose your 497 investments.

21:17 Third, if you are going to invest in this product, just because you are having FOMO, go to my episode last week.  FOMO will not help you in the world of business.  In fact, it affects your mental health and makes you do things, make risky investments that will not necessarily be beneficial to your long-term goals.

If you are entering the world of digital marketing and online business, remember that there is no such thing as overnight success or easy money. Don’t fall for these schemes because you will find yourself exerting more effort defending the product than selling.
